From darkness light came

(1759)  Alok esechilo

Light had arrived;
A flower had smiled.
On footfall of morning sun,
Life, wakened, had arisen.

The bud had been veiled in shame for long;
Honey, it dispensed in luster's trough.
Songs sublime in many tunes went adrift,
All of them encircled by darkness.

The tale that none had ever spoken,
Pain told not by any lips–
History that had always gone unwritten,
It took shape in fruits and flowers.

  1. Philosophically incorrect and yet... sweetness is born out of pain.
